Accessibility Statement

Health information should be available to everyone. This statement explains how Alaikas.com works to make its guides accessible, where we still have limits, and how to tell us about a problem.

At Alaikas.com, we believe clear health information should be easy for everyone to find, read and understand, including people who use assistive technology, people with low vision, and people with cognitive or motor disabilities.

Our Commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These internationally recognized guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We review new pages as we publish them and improve older pages when we find issues.

What We Do to Make Alaikas.com Accessible

  • Plain language: our guides explain medical terms the first time they appear and use short paragraphs, clear headings and lists.
  • Clear structure: each page has a single main heading and a logical heading order, so screen reader users can move through content quickly.
  • Keyboard navigation: menus, links, buttons and FAQ sections can be used with a keyboard alone, and a “Skip to content” link appears at the top of every page.
  • Visible focus: links and buttons show a clear outline when they receive keyboard focus.
  • Text alternatives: meaningful images include descriptive alternative text.
  • Readable design: we use high-contrast text, a clean typeface and a layout that adapts to phones, tablets and desktops, and pages can be zoomed without losing content.
  • Descriptive links: link text describes where the link goes, rather than “click here.”
  • Reduced motion: animations are kept subtle, and we respect your device’s “reduce motion” setting.

Known Limitations

Although we work hard to make every page accessible, some content may not yet fully meet our goals. For example:

  • Some tables in longer guides may be easier to read on a larger screen.
  • Pages that link to external websites, such as public-health organizations, depend on those websites’ own accessibility.

We have not yet completed a formal third-party accessibility audit. We plan to review the site regularly and fix issues as we find them.

Compatibility

Alaikas.com is designed to work with recent versions of major browsers, including Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, and with common screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack.
